The Cars My Best Friend's Girl Grey Whistle Test 78 July 11 Series 7

The Old Grey Whistle Test (usually abbreviated to Whistle Test or OGWT) was a British television music show. Because the purpose is to non-commercially share the legacy of The Cars with fans, it is being uploaded under the terms of Fair Use. No copyright infringement intended. It was commissioned by David Attenborough and aired on BBC2 from 1971 to 1988. It took over the BBC2 late night slot from Disco 2, which ran between September 1970 and July 1971, while continuing to feature non-chart music. The show was devised by BBC producer Rowan Ayers. The original producer, involved in an executive capacity throughout the show's entire history, was Michael Appleton. According to presenter Bob Harris, the programm derived its name from a Tin Pan Alley phrase from years before. When they got the first pressing of a record they would play it to people they called the old greys – doormen in grey suits. Any song they could remember and whistle, having heard it just once or twice, had passed the old grey whistle test. On 23 February 2018, a one-off three hour special of The Old Grey Whistle Test was broadcast on BBC Four, hosted by Bob Harris to mark 30 years since the final episode aired This is The Cars performance of My Best Friend's Girl from Series 7 which was from July 11, 1978 You can also watch The Cars perform Just What I Needed from this performance @ https://youtu.be/AUZ2-q9O_4E I wish to try to continue spreading the word about this legendary band and musician and perhaps help a younger audience find out about these musicians and become new fans :) Please come and check out my Facebook page by the same title as this channel. https://www.facebook.com/8.9.1947BenjaminOrrElectricAngelRockandRoller
