Benjamin Orr/ The Legacy: This group is in celebration of a musical legacy covering nearly 40 years. Benjamin Orr (born Benjamin Orzechowski) was the founding father, co-lead singer and bass player of the 1980's Supergroup, THE CARS. Benjamin is best known for his contributions to THE CARS, but also recorded his 1986 solo LP entitled "The Lace". He was an accomplished artist and musician and played drums, keyboards, rhythm guitar and bass. Benjamin toured as a solo artist with his own line up and band, "ORR", throughout the mid 1990's to his untimely death in 2000. A man of extreme talent both on and off stage; he stole the hearts of thousands with his beautiful charm, charisma, striking good looks, as well as an incredible singing voice. Benjamin left a legacy behind that will never be forgotten... music that is timeless; friends, family and fans who loved him and admired him. The man who was so elegant, simple and classic lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2000 leaving many fans, dear friends and a beautiful son, his spitting image, broken hearted. At The Legacy we CELEBRATE his life and what he had to offer; his DRIVE, compassion, love and devotion to the music which ran through his blood now runs through ours. Here is more information about this performance and concert This was filmed on the 4th of September 1982, at Glen Helen Regional Park, San Bernardino, CA, USA San Bernardino, California. The band's performance was (according the information I found) between the bands Santana and The Kinks. When checking setlist.fm ( which may not be correct so if anyone is sure of the set list please let me know ) , the band played 15 songs; this one was the second in the set. The Old Grey Whistle Test (usually abbreviated to Whistle Test or OGWT) was a British television music show. Because the purpose is to non-commercially share the legacy of The Cars with fans, it is being uploaded under the terms of Fair Use. No copyright infringement intended. It was commissioned by David Attenborough and aired on BBC2 from 1971 to 1988. It took over the BBC2 late night slot from Disco 2, which ran between September 1970 and July 1971, while continuing to feature non-chart music. The show was devised by BBC producer Rowan Ayers. The original producer, involved in an executive capacity throughout the show's entire history, was Michael Appleton. According to presenter Bob Harris, the programm derived its name from a Tin Pan Alley phrase from years before. When they got the first pressing of a record they would play it to people they called the old greys – doormen in grey suits. Any song they could remember and whistle, having heard it just once or twice, had passed the old grey whistle test.
